School Uniform Changes

The updated uniform continues to reflect the traditional elements of our existing Brookside uniform, while also introducing greater flexibility. From September, children will have the option to wear an ‘active’ style uniform every day, should this better suit their needs.

From September – at a glance

  • Children may wear either the traditional uniform or the active uniform every day
  • The traditional Brookside uniform remains unchanged
  • The active uniform will also be worn for PE, meaning no separate PE kit is needed
  • Plain black trainers or Clarks‑style trainer shoes should be worn by all children
  • There is no expectation to buy new items immediately – please use what you already have

Traditional uniform

The traditional uniform remains unchanged and continues to include:

  • Trousers, skirts or dresses
  • Brookside jumpers and cardigans
  • Blue polo shirt

Active uniform (also worn for PE)

The active uniform, which will also replace a separate PE kit, will consist of:

  • Black tracksuit bottoms, leggings, joggers or skort
  • PE shorts
  • Pale blue t‑shirt
  • Blue ¼‑zip fleece

We will no longer have a PE hoodie, although these can continue to be used until outgrown or worn out. . Items should be plain or feature the Brookside logo and should not include branded logos (e.g. Adidas, Nike) unless they are black. This approach means that on PE days, children will be wearing the same items throughout the day, giving a more streamlined and practical uniform.

Footwear

Children should now wear plain black trainers or Clarks‑style trainer type shoes. We want both girls and boys to follow this option, as these are more versatile and safer for OPAL play and general day‑to‑day school activities.

Important note about purchasing

We would like to reassure families that there is no expectation to rush out and buy new uniform items for September. Please continue to use what you already have. If the active uniform is more suitable for your child, we suggest gradually transitioning to it as items naturally need replacing. All these items can be purchased from our usual uniform suppliers, schooluniformsolutions or from local supermarkets

Please remember to label, and then check after each wash, your child’s school uniform.
