At Brookside, most children will progress well through the curriculum with some differentiation being made to teaching styles. Some children will, however, need support in order to make their best progress at school. These children may be considered to have special educational needs. Special educational needs can cover quite a wide range including physical or sensory impairments, learning difficulties, communication difficulties and emotional or behavioural difficulties.

If you have any concerns about your child’s learning and progress, you are welcome to speak to your child’s class teacher or the school’s SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).

The school’s SENCo is Miss Emily Beach.  The school also has a governor for SEN, Mrs Reesha Armstead.

In the links below, you will find information about Brookside’s SEN policies as well as information provided by Nottinghamshire County Council for parents who have a child with an additional need.

Brookside’s SEN Information Report can be found here.
