SEAL

PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) lessons help children to develop vital life skills. A couple of years ago, we began a new initiative - the SEAL programme, which stands for Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning. SEAL and PSHE are very closely linked.

The SEAL programme aims to develop the qualities and skills that help to promote positive behaviour and effective learning. It focuses on five social and emotional aspects of learning: self-awareness, managing feelings, motivation, empathy and social skills. The programme helps children to develop skills such as understanding another’s point of view, working in a group, persevering when facing difficulties, resolving conflict and managing worries.

The materials are organised into seven themes: New Beginnings, Getting On and Falling Out, Say No to Bullying, Going for Goals, Good to Be Me, Relationships and Changes. Each theme is covered across the whole school and includes assemblies and follow-up activities in all areas of the curriculum.

We celebrate success and give out achievement certificates and SEAL certificates in our weekly Achievement Assembly.
