Playground Peacemakers

Unfortunately, there are often disputes within groups of children. At Brookside, we train Year 6 children to become mediators, helping their peers to resolve conflicts. The mediator is an impartial third party in a dispute between their peers. This pupil facilitates communication, negotiation, understanding and problem-solving between others.

Brookside's Peacemaker programme has been extremely successful. Not only can it prevent teacher involvement in time-consuming disputes, but it also develops the life skills of pupil mediators. Training begins in Year 5 at the end of the summer term, in preparation for going into Year 6. Anyone interested in becoming a Peacemaker should speak to Miss Wiltshire.

Playground Buddies

Children in Year 4 now also have the chance to become Playground Buddies. Playground Buddies have the special role of helping younger children at playtimes. If you are interested in becoming a Playground Buddy, you should speak to Miss Wiltshire.
