The BFG - Brookside Fundraising Group
Latest News
Further to the success of last year the BFG have decided to arrange a trip to London on Saturday 1st May 2010. Two executive 49 seater coaches will leave East Leake from outside the Three Horse Shoes Pub at 8.30am and arrive in Central London at approximately 11.30am. The coaches will depart from London at 6.30pm and will arrive back in East Leake at approximately 9.30pm.
The BFG would like to use this opportunity to thank all parents and guardians who support the school via the various events, and we really hope that you enjoy a great day out in London! We look forward to seeing you!
Who are the BFG committee?
I am sure many of you know about the Brookside Fundraising Group (BFG), but for those of you who do not, the group is made up of both parents and teachers from the school. The aim of the BFG is to raise funds for the school which help our children in various ways.
The largest two events organised by the BFG each year are the Summer Fate and Fireworks Night and with the continued support from you all, the BFG have been very successful. Recent fundraising has allowed the BFG to purchase the stage lighting that complimented the children’s Christmas performances so well, as well as subsidising the school trips and financing the shading areas for the school field.
However, a reasonable question being asked by some parents is, “Who are the BFG Committee members?”
Gary really needs no introduction to you being the School Head Teacher, but wearing his other hat he is also a Committee member and particularly key in helping to decide how the money raised is distributed fairly among all the different school years.
Kathryn has been chair of the BFG for 7 years and is the main organiser of the events (with a very supportive committee!). Kathryn has two children at Brookside in Year 2 and Year 6 and one at Harry Carlton.
More committee members coming soon!

We would like to start by thanking all the many parents and friends of Brookside School who support our events. We have continued to raise valuable funds for the school. This money has been used for the following school projects:
- £1500 to purchase DVDs for all years from the BBC schools learning programme.
- £500 to purchase the materials for another 2 pergolas for the school field to provide shade for the children. We would like to officially thank Graham Hiliary for giving his time in building these structures for the school.
- £500 to purchase K’NEX construction equipment for year 2 pupils.
- £10 per year 6 pupil to help fund the Robinwood educational trip.
- £10 per year 4 pupil to help fund the Forest Schools educational programme.
- £220 (a subsidy of £1.00 per child) to help towards the cost of each class trip.
We also funded the re-vamp of the communal area used by the Y5/Y6 children, providing them with better storage.
If any parents are interested in providing help, either before, during or after any of the BFG events, Gary or Kathryn will be delighted to hear from you.
As always, thank you for your continued support,
The BFG Committee
